2010/11 European Cup place distributionOn the occasion of its meeting during the EHF EURO 2010 Final Weekend in Vienna, the Executive Committee of the European Handball Federation, among other items, dealt with matters of the EHF club competitions for the coming season.
The general distribution of places for the four EHF club competitions remains unchanged; however, there were some changes in the positions on the ranking list as a result of the performance of the teams over the last three seasons. Please click below for the 2010/11 ranking list including information on the places for each Federation in the various competitions for men and women. Place distribution men While there was no change on the positions from 1 to 10 on the men’s side, there is a major rearrangement on the women’s side. Germany moved from 9th position to the 7th and will consequently have two places in the 2010/11 EHF Women’s Champions League. Furthermore, it was approved by the EHF ExeC that the defending champion of the EHF Men’s Champions League no longer has a reserved place in the next edition of the competition. At the same time, a “Wild Card” Tournament was confirmed to be part of the EHF Men’s Champions League qualification process. Consequently there will be four regular qualification tournaments – as in the past seasons – and, additionally, a so called “Wild Card” Tournament for a maximum of four teams. All four clubs will have the chance to bid for the organisation of the tournament and a maximum of one team per country will be allowed to take part at the “Wild Card” tournament. TEXT: EHF |
